Join us an inspection volunteer

Last updated: 27 March 2026

Whether you use or have used a care service yourself, or you’re a family member of someone who has, you may be exactly the kind of volunteer we need.

You don’t have to have qualifications.

Personal experience is what counts.

If you need help to complete our application form please get in touch. A member of the team will contact you to support you with your application.

After you send us your application, we’ll email you to let you know we’ve got it. If we need any more information, we’ll give you a quick call. We’ll then tell you if your application has been successful. If it is, we’ll invite you to an informal interview so we can chat about the role, what’s expected, and the skills you’ll need. We’ll also arrange your PVG check.

Within five working days of receiving the PVG check, we’ll let you know if you’re moving on to the next part of the induction and we’ll contact your referees.

After you finish your three‑day induction training, you’ll meet with a participation coordinator to talk about whether the role feels right for you.

If so, you’ll complete some paperwork, such as confidentiality and conflict of interest forms, and then take part in a shadow inspection with support from the coordinator.

Finally, you’ll meet your coordinator again to talk about how it went. If it’s the right fit for you, we’ll confirm your appointment as an inspection volunteer.
