Advocacy in Scotland

Last updated: 19 April 2026

Independent advocacy supports children, young people, adults, unpaid carers and people with additional support needs to have their voices heard in decisions about their lives, care and support. Advocates are independent, confidential, and help people understand their rights, prepare for meetings, speak up, navigate appeals and access service.
