Feedback

We want to include the views of people who experience care, as well as their relatives, friends and carers in our scrutiny and improvement work and our care surveys help us do that.

They have a stronger emphasis on hearing about people’s experiences and outcomes and we hope this will enable more people to tell us about their care. We want people to be able to engage much more meaningfully with our inspections, in the way that suits them best. We designed these surveys to support this in a flexible way.

We send electronic survey links to managers of care services throughout the year. Please share these links with the key people in your service who use your support or help you deliver care.

There are four different surveys:

  • people who experience care

  • staff

  • relatives and carers

  • external professionals (such as district nurses or GPs), where appropriate

We know some people, especially those experiencing care, and some relatives and carers may need support to take part. We appreciate any help you can offer to enable them to share their feedback. Advocacy services in your area may also be able to help.

Please email the relevant survey link to the appropriate groups of people. If staff are supporting someone to complete the survey, make sure they are given the correct link for their situation

People who experience care

People can complete the survey by:

  • filling in the printed form we will send to the service and returning it in the freepost envelope provided

  • completing the survey online

For care homes, we also provide sentiment cards and response cards to support people to express how they feel and to answer questions more easily. People can complete as much of the survey as they wish—some may only want to use the first page with images, while others may choose to complete the full survey.

How services will receive the surveys
