Make a complaint about a registered care service

You can choose to give us your name and contact details when you make a complaint but ask us not to share them with the care service. We will always keep your identity confidential unless you give us permission to share it.

Making a confidential complaint means we can contact you if we need more information, which helps us look into your concerns properly. It also allows us to update you directly about what we found and any actions taken to improve the service.

In some situations, we may need to pass your details to another agency — for example, if your complaint suggests that a child or adult may be at risk of harm. If this happens, we will tell you before we share any information.

Choosing to be a confidential complainant can be a good alternative to remaining anonymous.
