Care home improvement programme

We are inviting care homes for adults and older people in the Highland and Moray areas to apply for the third cohort of the Care Home Improvement Programme (CHIP).

Who: 20 adult and older people care homes from the Highland and Moray areas

When: July to November 2026

Where: Two in-person events in Inverness and four online events on Microsoft Teams

Participants will undertake an improvement project during the programme, to support improvement in an area that will make a positive impact in their care home. Participants will be allocated an improvement adviser who will provide dedicated support throughout the programme.

Programme structure

Each care home will nominate two staff members from any role within the care home to attend the events:

  • Wednesday 15 July 2026, 10:00-16:30, Inverness: Self-evaluation and leadership

  • Wednesday 29 July 2026, 10:00-12:00, online: Developing aim statements

  • Wednesday 12 August 2026, 10:00-12:00, online: Measurement and Plan Do Study Act

  • Thursday 24 September 2026, 10:00-12:00, online: Implementation

  • Wednesday 7 October 2026, 10:00-12:00, online: Spread

  • Wednesday 4 November 2026, 10:00-16:00, Inverness: Celebration

Participants will also receive one-to-one and group support as they undertake their improvement project.

If you would like to apply to take part in the programme, please complete this short application form by the end of Friday 5 June 2026.

Please note that if we receive more applications than there are places then we may have to shortlist in order to allocate places.
