For local authority social work departments:

• Please contact your local authority and ask about their complaints procedure.  

NHS hospital or clinic:

• To raise concerns about an NHS hospital or clinic, refer this to your local NHS board. 

The Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC):

The NMC regulate nurses in Scotland. They can consider concerns about specific individuals who are registered nurses. You can let them know about your concerns by:

• calling the NMC on 020 7637 7181

• emailing newreferrals@nmc-uk.org

• or you can check if a nurse is registered by searching the NMC Register.

Independent health service or hospice

• Healthcare Improvement Scotland regulate independent healthcare services and hospices. To raise a concern about a service visit their website.

Planning permission and building standards

• Contact your local authority planning department.
