Quality improvement and participation
Our health and social care improvement team (HSCIT) works to improve the quality of care for people across the sector. The team is made up of senior improvement advisers who are all health care professionals with specific areas of focus, including:
Dementia
Palliative care and end of life care, and tissue viability
Nutrition and hydration
Bladder and bowel
Healthy ageing, (including safer mobility, frailty and rehabilitation), manual handling and postural care
Pharmacy
Infection, prevention and control
Learning disability, mental health and drug and alcohol addiction
The Team work strategically and operationally, with internal and external colleagues and frontline care staff, so that people who experience care achieve improved health and wellbeing outcomes and live fulfilling lives.
Core functions of the team include:
delivery of targeted quality improvement programmes of work
providing subject matter expertise on specific health and wellbeing areas both internally and externally
building quality improvement and health subject matter expertise across the organisation
developing guidance related to specific health and wellbeing areas
supporting development and implementation of national guidance by influencing development from a social care perspective
influencing and shaping local and national policy from a health and social care perspective
collaborating with national provider organisations to support and sustain improvement.
